Birthday
Yes, it's my birthday today, 31-years-old indeed.  Quite honestly it doesn't seem like a year since I had my 30th birthday party but it is, there's no denying it!  What am I doing with my birthday? Not that much, just relaxing and writing at the moment and then later I'm meeting a friend for dinner.

Not only is it my birthday, which is a big enough event, it's also St Andrew's Day.  Scotland's national day although you wouldn't always think so.  Only now is there a push to actually celebrate this day as England, Wales and Ireland celebrate St George, St David and St Patrick.  Am I being cynical if I say that the push also coincides with Alex Salmond's push towards an independent Scotland?

On line bullying

This is a topic I'll keep going on about because it is something which is completely swept under the carpet by police and government alike despite the fact the most serious consequence of on line bullying so far in the UK has been suicide.
Some of the worst comments I've read regarding on line bullying go along the lines of "well, they could just switch the computer off" and "they're kids, all kids get bullied a bit".  These are ridiculous attitudes often coming from people who were never bullied or were bullies themselves.
Why should a child have to turn a computer off to get away from bullying? The bullying should not happen.  Sites like MSN, Facebook and Twitter have a responsibility here in ensuring their younger users are safe.  Besides, turning off the computer doesn't work, the damage is already done.

Christmas is coming
Yes it is and far too quickly! I thought I was organised but I most definitely am not.  I got my first Christmas card before my birthday!
I have bought my cards actually, I got a nice little deal on them which meant that I bought them a few weeks ago.  I always think I'll be super-organised and buy them in the January sales but I never do.  Friends who have bought them in January tell me that when Christmas rolls around again they can't actually find them so end up buying more anyway!
I'm sure I'll be organised by Christmas!

Time to sign off.

Much love,
Gemma
